IMMERSION

WOOD FOREST EXPERTS

The Wood Forest Experts is an online immersion program that will present information about the forest sector and the Brazilian wood industry in an innovative and impactful way. It will have the presence of experts and opinion makers on the subject.

Its main objective is to bring together an ecosystemic audience linked to the industries of the South American market, focusing on the main market pains of the moment: raw material supply and demand, global markets, foreign exchange, sustainability (ESG), industry growth, carbon credits, among others.

In 2021 we had 6 meetings of 2 and a half hours, divided into 6 macro themes:

- Pulp and Paper;

- Steel Industry;

- Solid Wood Industry;

- Supply and Demand - Producers and Buyers View;

- Supply and Demand - Consultant's View; and

- Thematic ESG and CO2 Market.

The program had the participation of 30 experts and opinion makers.

Carlos Aguiar is an engineer and expert in the pulp sector from planted forests. He actively participated in the process of innovation and development of the future forest and the scale-up of pulp mills, having contributed to the consolidation of Brazil's competitiveness in this segment. He was president and CEO of companies such as Aracruz Celulose and Fibria Celulose, which recorded in the period from 1985 to 2011 the mark of 773 million planted trees and 45 million tons of produced pulp. He helped in the creation and implementation of IBÁ, being the first president of the Deliberative Council of the Institution.

Adriana Maugeri

Adriana has a strong and consolidated performance in large companies as leader of strategical business, corporate sustainability management, negotiation with strategic audiences, dynamic environmental management, and institutional and governmental relationship. She has expertise in agribusiness, working in the Brazilian forestry industry and the electricity sector, focusing on renewable sources. She has experience in leading crisis management, implementation of the sectoral advocacy concept, and active participation in the formulation and readjustment of state and national regulations and laws.

Leonardo De Zorzi

He holds a degree in Business Administration from UFRGS, a post-graduate degree in Marketing from FGV, and he has 24 years of experience in the wood industry. He is one of the founding partners and director of Global Prime, an American/Brazilian company, with export and distribution operations of pine lumber products.

Forestry Engineer graduated from Esalq, has 38 years of experience in the forestry sector. He has worked in pulp and paper companies such as Champion and Ripasa. He is the founding partner of TTG Brasil Investimentos Florestais, created 14 years ago, where he is currently chief operating officer.

He holds amaster's degree in Forestry Engineering from the Federal University of Paraná, where he also completed a Master's degree in Forestry Economics and Policy. He also has a PhD in Agronomy from UNESP and a Sandwich Doctorate from the University of Freiburg (Germany). In his professional experience he accumulates the functions of professor, researcher and consultant. He considers himself passionate about the forest segment. He is currently the CEO of Malinovski and Director of Expoforest, Lignum Latin America and Show Florestal.

José Carlos da Fonseca Júnior is a career diplomat, served at the Embassy in Washington, Ottawa, Maputo, Manila, Abu Dhabi and Santiago. He was also Minister-Counselor in New Delhi and Ambassador of Brazil to Myanmar. In addition, he was Federal Deputy of Espírito Santo state, Secretary of Finance and Secretary of the Civil House in the last government of Paulo Hartung. Since 2019, he has been the executive director of the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá), member of the Steering Committee of The Forests Dialogue (TFD) and the Advisory Committee on Sustainable Forest-based Industries (ACSFI) of FAO, as well as being co-leader of the Brazil Coalition's Carbon Markets Task Force.
